Law Firm Leaders Find Valuable Guidance in Adam Smith Blog

Bruce MacEwen’s tremendously successful Adam Smith blog is a great resource for law firm executives and anyone interested in law firm economics.   The Adam Smith blog touches on global law firm issues frequently.  Bruce MacEwen’s chapter in Bright Ideas is woven together from several recent posts on the Adam Smith blog.  The chapter covers a number of topics related to law firm growth, law firm management and law firm expansion.  Each addressed in separate posts at www.adamsmithesq.com , are global strategy and its components of geography, talent, management structures and leadership.

The Adam Smith blog has existed for about five years, and in early 2009 page-views on the site exceed 400,000 in one month.  It addresses the broader issues of global business and law from a strategic and economic perspective.  Bruce MacEwen (President) has published more than 1,000 articles on "Adam Smith, Esq." on the economics of law firms.

Many of the Adam Smith blog posts are focused on US law firm and ‘big law’ issues, and there are many reference to in-house counsel and global legal issues.  One can find posts on a range of topics in Adam Smith, Esq. by searching keywords on the home page, such as:  Finance, Cultural Considerations, Partnership Structures, Globalization, Compensation, Practice Group Structures, Strategy and IT.

The Adam Smith blog takes its name from the revered economist, Adam Smith, who was also a moral philosopher.   The Adam Smith provides insights on the business of large, sophisticated law firms.  In a recent Adam Smith blog post, Bruce MacEwen wrote, “Adam Smith, Esq." aspires to be nothing less than the most: thoughtful, reflective, well-informed, well-connected, and, yes, wide-ranging online publication in the world that addresses the economics of sophisticated law firms.
