Foreword

Jan Eijsbouts elevated the position of chief legal officer in Europe with his stellar performance as General Counsel of Akzo Nobel, where he was a close adviser to the businesses and to the Board of Directors and guided the company through a few major crises.  Jan has worked throughout his career to gain legal privilege for in-house lawyers in Europe.  He is an expert in corporate social responsibility and has published numerous articles and provided keynote speeches on the topic.  He served as co-chair of the IBA Corporate Counsel Forum for many years.
